Ever Have a Day Like This?

Posted by Luanne | Posted in Manic Monday, My girls | Posted on 11-11-2008

Yesterday was totally insane. The good news is that everyone made it out alive… I’m not sure if they made it out well, but definitely alive.

At 9:15am I had to be in court. I would explain why, but every time I think too hard about it, I have to run to the restroom. For the life of me I could not find my court papers. Reason being, I’m sure I put them somewhere where they would not get thrown away or misplaced. In other words, I hid them. Needless to say, I hid them well. I decide not to panic and go with the information I had. When we got to the court sign in, we were not on the docket. To make this hideous story that is too long, a little shorter, follow me; We were in the wrong place….car too far away to get to in time…walked four blocks in two inch heals with dd and dh to another building…went to hearing…nothing I said was valid….left as quick as possible…walked six blocks to car.

That was only the beginning. We came home and homeschooled for about an hour. Drove to the Chiropractor’s office at 1:30pm, took off and went to my doctors apt at 2:30, then off to the dentist for Krisha to get her teeth sealed at 4:00. As soon as the sweet dental hygienist came out with Krisha, she said, “Oh, Krisha told me this is her only day off, and your off too. What are you guys going to do special tonight?” Krisha has dance rehearsal every day for at least four hours except Monday. I usually have my MK meetings on Monday night. Yesterday we were both off. That is why we scheduled every apt that had to be taken care of this week.

All the way to the car it was, “Mom, what are we going to do special tonight!?” My plans were to go home, ignore the other million things I had to do and recoup my sanity. I hated to disappoint her, but I think I did when I told her that were were just going to “be” as in quietly “exist” for about an hour and then I would answer that question.

When we got home, my husband, who is on third shift this week, was awake and ready for play time and dinner. Don’t you just wish life had a stop button? We ended up going to buy a $5 movie at Walmart, I made Chicken Lelani and salad for dinner and we watched the movie while we ate. Krisha was happy, Dh seemed happy, and I was ready for bed.

I know I should have posted this on Manic Monday, but can anyone guess why I didn’t get it done?

Kisses!

My Little Girl Is Getting Married

Posted by Luanne | Posted in My girls | Posted on 27-10-2008

My daughter Tosh has been engaged for several weeks. I haven’t been too thrilled about it because she has been a bit estranged from me for the past 6 months. She text me to tell me she was engaged. I went to her apartment the next day to talk to her and take her out to celebrate. My mother showed up and believe it or not, it turned in to a creepy white trash front yard yelling match. Needless to say, I left and hadn’t heard from her in weeks….until Friday.
[

I was so happy to hear from her. She told me when they were planning on getting married and that she wanted to have an out door wedding. She also asked me to help. I am so excited. I have been mourning her loss for months. Not to this guy, but to the world. It didn’t happen slowly, it didn’t happen with any warning at all. She just moved out.

I’ve spent most of my weekend looking for places to have the wedding and getting info (as much as I could on a weekend) on them. She is coming by today. Pray for me that I don’t do or say anything stupid. Pray for peace. I really want this to be a happy time for her. I just want to be there with her in the midst of it all.

So You Think You Can Dance

Posted by Luanne | Posted in Freaky Friday, My girls | Posted on 23-10-2008

My baby girl and meWednesday night Krisha (my 14yr old) and I went to the “So You Think You Can Dance 2008” tour in Columbus. We had an AWESOME time. Thanks to Jenny and Emily and momminitup, we not only had tickets in the eighth row, but we had VIP “meet-n-greet” passes. Several hours before the concert, we were able to meet with the dancers. Little did I know that it would be Krisha and I, five other adults and five young children. It was kinda awkward considering we have hardly seen the show at all. We just love dancing (Krisha is in our cities pre-professional ballet company), but our lives don’t afford much television watching. When we went to the meet-n-greet area, we were obviously supposed to be like the other crazy fans…we just didn’t know who any of them were.

Krisha kissing Snuggle       All the guys were so nice.

After the show both Krisha and I decieded that if we had know how awesome they were, we would have been a little more star struck.

The best part about the whole night wasn’t really the concert or the dancing itself. It was that Krisha and I, from 1pm-midnight got to get away with each other, no phones, no email, no texting, no tweeting, no eerends to run, no bills to pay, no homeschooling, just she and I. We laughed, we danced, we screamed and giggled. We even took our picture together every time we went to the bathroom. Thanks momminitup for giving us time to stop and smell the roses.

 Yep....we\'re in the bathroom!

Independence Day

Posted by Luanne | Posted in Cosmetics, Freaky Friday, My girls | Posted on 04-07-2008

Happy 4th of July! I hope all of you have an awesome time with family this weekend. We just got home from the fireworks downtown. They were amazing! If we would have had fireworks like that when I was a kid, I would have flipped out. Every year they have to outdo the year before. It was interesting to me that there were still kids that looked bored. What have we done to our children? Fun isn’t even fun anymore unless it has bells and whistles. Did that just show my age?

Anyway, enjoy your family this weekend. Krisha is going to represent Dayton Ballet on a huge Nutcracker float tomorrow morning. I’ll take pictures. Tomorrow I will show you the goodies that Jenny from www.momminitup.com got me at FreeVS (That’s what Jenny calls CVS) Ain’t she cute?

Next week our family will be on a mission’s trip. Pray for us and the families that we will be ministering to. I’ll be back Monday, July 14th.

Since this is a holiday, you can get any MK product you want for 25% off! Stock up!

Kisses!

Why worry?

Posted by Luanne | Posted in Manic Monday, My girls | Posted on 26-05-2008

I have to tell you that this weekend was awesome! The girls shopped til we were all about to drop, they went to see a movie, swam, relaxed in the hot tub, blared music and danced around the hotel room, had creamer and ice fights, ate pizza, cookie dough, chips, and candy, and well……at 2:30am I got a call from the front desk. They said that if they got one more complaint, we would have to leave. I had no idea! Every other year we have done this, my friend, who was the manager, who is obviously not the manager anymore, would get us two rooms and not put anyone on either side of us. Apparently it didn’t work out this year. Oh yeah, did I mention the hotel was full of out of town soccer teams that were in town for the tournaments. The hotel was packed and we didn’t get the run of the place. We had a hard time adjusting, but truly, they could have called when they got the first complaint. Anyway, the girls seemed to have a good time. They were totally exhausted when we got them home Saturday evening.

Thank you so much for you suggestions and encouragement. I ended up giving her money to shop with in the mall (good idea Tiffany!)  I remembered that I had a few jewelry items that I got from Just Jewelry that she liked. I put the money card in one of the boxes. The mall had an American Cookie Factory, and so I got her a big “Happy Birthday” cookie. My BFF Jenny from Momminitup went on Saturday and picked up a handmade purse that Krisha said she liked when we were at the market last week. I am going to give that to her when we go out with family on Tuesday (her actual birthday.) Thanks Jenny J

My point of all this was to not only fill you in, but to remind you of something I have to remind myself of all the time. Why worry? I was worried about what I would get her and how all this would come together. Isn’t it funny that even when we know the truth, we still believe a lie? The truth is, worry is not from God. I certainly need to quit focusing on what I am going to get (or get someone else) and focus on the blessings I have. Lori, you were right; Krisha was my sweet blessing from my Heavenly Father 14 years ago.

Thank you, thank you, thank you Jesus!

Amen.
