There and Back Again..

Posted by Luanne | Posted in Uncategorized | Posted on 16-07-2008

Hello! this is Luanne’s husband,Daniel, aka dsto. Luanne asked me to drop a line to you all.

We returned from our mission trip this weekend tired and glad to be home. We were also humbled by what we saw and encountered while in the Appalachians of Kentucky. We sometimes forget that there are people right here in our own country (and we really do not have to leave our own city to see that!) And the thing is…many, many times food and clothing are the last thing some folks need.

Luanne,Krisha, and I worked with a group called Youth on Mission as a family. 5 or so other families were there from our church as well. Part of our group did a bit of re-hab on a local home near Pikeville,KY. Some of us went and served at a Senior Center in Wheelwright ,KY, an old coal mining town.(we delivered meals, and painted and visited with some folks) We all worked at a distribution center called Thankful Heart. We also did a small “Vacation Bilble School” type deal with some kids at a local apartment complex.

Overall we stayed busy and tired. It was all worth it. Even though I brought some sinus bug home, it was a blessing. Crazy how we do that isn’t it? We go to serve and we get blessed? That’s good. But did we actually serve and do some good? I pray that we did. It is hard not to come home from a mission trip and talk about “us”.  It is a struggle in all things not to put  “us” first. At home,on a mission trip,at work….whatever. Let’s all work on missions everyday, wherever we are and let’s not even put “us” in the mix.

Luanne is now on her way to Dallas,TX for the annual MK seminar. She will be back next week with her regular schedule and her amazing tips and tricks and deals! Pray for her safe trip and a refreshing time with freinds and co-workers. My wife is amazing as many of you know first hand. She deserves the best. Whether in her buisness or personally. She amazes me…

Thanks for you time!

Independence Day

Posted by Luanne | Posted in Cosmetics, Freaky Friday, My girls | Posted on 04-07-2008

Happy 4th of July! I hope all of you have an awesome time with family this weekend. We just got home from the fireworks downtown. They were amazing! If we would have had fireworks like that when I was a kid, I would have flipped out. Every year they have to outdo the year before. It was interesting to me that there were still kids that looked bored. What have we done to our children? Fun isn’t even fun anymore unless it has bells and whistles. Did that just show my age?

Anyway, enjoy your family this weekend. Krisha is going to represent Dayton Ballet on a huge Nutcracker float tomorrow morning. I’ll take pictures. Tomorrow I will show you the goodies that Jenny from www.momminitup.com got me at FreeVS (That’s what Jenny calls CVS) Ain’t she cute?

Next week our family will be on a mission’s trip. Pray for us and the families that we will be ministering to. I’ll be back Monday, July 14th.

Since this is a holiday, you can get any MK product you want for 25% off! Stock up!

Kisses!

ORIENTAL SESAME

CHICKEN STRIPS (serves 4)             X3                                      X6

1/2 cup honey                               1 and 1/2 cups                  3cups

1/4 cup orange juice                      3/4 cup                             1 and 1/2 cups

2 T. soy sauce                                 6 T.                                   3/4 cup

1 envelope Good Seasons                3                                          6

   Oriental Sesame Dressing Mix

4 boneless, skinless chicken          12                                        24

breat cut lengthwise into 3/4 inch strips

Mix honey, juice, soy sauce, and dressing mix in large bowl until well blended. Pour marinade over chicken. Thread skewers through each chicken strip. Broil 4 inches from heat or grill over medium coals 8-10 minutes or until cooked through, turning frequently.

If freezing larger quantities: Place chicken strips in freezer bag. Pour marinade over chicken. Remove as much air as possible, freeze flat. On serving day; thaw, thread, and cook using instructions above.

My family loves these. You can cut into strips or leave as whole chicken breast if your in a hurry.  This is a great meal for freezing. I make them in large quantities and freeze them for later. The measurements for 3 meals and 6 meals are included above.

Enjoy!

That Glow

What do these three ladies have in common? Nope…it’s not blonde hair or anything bad that came to mind (Cameron Diaz is not so bad) Anyway, it’s HIGHLIGHTER!

One of the #1 trends of 2008-2009 is having a beautiful, healthy, natural glow using bronzers and highlighters.

powder pals

With new Mary Kay ® Mineral Bronzing Powders and Mary Kay® Mineral Highlighting Powders, customers have more options than ever before for defining facial features, adding a warm glow or highlighting and illuminating! This radiant pair offers complete freedom to mix and match any shade combination to customize the perfect look for any skin tone.

Featuring our new vitamin A-, C- and E-enriched formula, each bronzing and highlighting unit actually includes two shades that can be swirled together with a Compact Powder Brush or the Powder Brush from the Mary Kay

® Brush Collection for the most natural effect (tap off excess product after swirling). Each unit is either all matte or all shimmer and includes a recommended skin tone, so you can help customers easily select what’s right for them. Plus, each bronzer and highlighter doubles as cheek and eye color. Two units fit side by side in the new Mary Kay® Compact.

 Mary Kay® Mineral Highlighting Powders

Highlighting powders illuminate lighter skin tones for a

more radiant look.

Apply:

  • Under the eyes (great to use after work to brighten eyes after a long day)
  • At the sides of the nose
  • Along smile lines
  • Below the lower lip at the crease of the chin
  • On the chin if you have a heartshaped face to help make the chin look wider and balance the face

Mary Kay® Mineral Highlighting Powder

Application Tips

Apply either shade to the area of the face you want to highlight: tops of cheekbones, down the center of the nose, above the center of the upper lip (this defines the lip and gives lips a pouty look without lip liner).

Use

Pink Porcelain only on areas you want to brighten, listed below. (You would not  want to use Pink Stardust because the shimmer is too intense for these small areas.) Note that Pink Porcelain can be used in thesame way as the MK Signature® Facial Highlighting Pen to instantly brighten and lift these shadowy areas of the face.

Mary Kay

® Mineral Bronzing Powder

Application Tips

  • When used on ivory and beige skin tones, bronzers provide a sun-kissed effect. Apply where the sun hits you: forehead, cheeks, nose, shoulders and décolleté (to even out skin tone).
  • When used on bronze skin tones, bronzers add warmth to the complexion and can even out skin tone.
