Homemade Dog Food

Posted by Luanne | Posted in Bunny & Dudley, Check this out!, WFMW | Posted on 19-11-2008

No joke, I made dog food. My pooches love it! Store bought food is expensive and I’m not sure what kind of nutrients they are actually getting from it. I thought I would find some good nutritious recipes and give it a shot. I looked up tons of recipes online and almost all of them had these ingredients in common: veggies (any kind, but it seemed that corn, carrots and green beans were preferred), oats, brown rice or pasta, and meat or broth. I was ecstatic. I had all of these ingredients in my freezer and/or as leftovers just waiting to be thrown away.

My first batch was a few chicken tenderloins (leftovers), several packages of frozen veggies (my grandmother gives them to us and my family prefers fresh, she gives us so many, sometimes they end up thrown away), some water to help with the chopping in the blender, and then after it was poured in the bowl, I added some oatmeal (we have tons of oatmeal).

Voila! Dog Food!

Yummy!

I gave Bunny, our large dog, two cups mixed with 1/2 cup of dry dog food. I gave Dudley, our terrior, one cup with about 1/4 cup of dry dog food. I gave it to them early in the day so I could, you know, monitor their digestion or lack there of. They did great. I gave them a second serving later that evening. When the dry dog food is gone, hopefully we can stick to homemade alone.

Dogs!

My subsequent batches have been made with tuna, veggies, and oats, and then today I made a beef batch from veggies, pasta, and leftover beef gravy. As you can see, they are under my feet when they see me making it. I’ve never seen them like a food or treat better. From what I understand, it will make poop duty easier too because of all the quickly bio-degratable ingredients in their food.

It works for me, and Bunny, and Dudley.

What is Your Mission?

Posted by Luanne | Posted in Check this out!, Manic Monday, My Mission | Posted on 17-11-2008

I wanted to be able to post this and have a link to this week’s sermon, but it is still not up yet. I am going to go ahead and share my thoughts and link you later when it comes up.

Actually, I can link you to the site and you can listen to the first three in the series. The name of the series is “House Rules.” House refering to your home and our church family. Rules refering to how to play correctly and fair. First we need to have Christ as our foundation, second, learn how to deal with conflict and third, how to forgive. Take a listen, you will love them. Just one a day for the next three days.

Anyway, the fourth is about being missional. Knowing what your mission is a sticking to it. It hit me pretty hard yesterday that I have not been sticking to the mission. Today, I am going to clear some things up. My mission and the mission of my family is to give glory an honor to Jesus Christ. It is to share the good news of His saving grace and teach others to do the same. We are to be disciples at all times. Thus, it brings me to this blog. My mission in this too should apply. It doesn’t mean that every blog should be Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, but it does mean that the point of it all should not be to sell products or get comments, it should be to bring honor and glory to Christ. Maybe that is why I haven’t been as motivated to blog everyday. I haven’t been doing what I love the most. Don’t get me wrong. I love selling MaryKay and I will sell you some in a split second, but I adore, with all my heart, talking about the Grace that God has given me. Sharing stuff like this makes me much more vulnerable, I know, and it might not be as interesting either, but it’s gotta be the way I roll. Please love me through this, and pray for me often. I want to get to know women and share in their lives. Even if it is “just online.” I want them to be able to share with me too, honestly, not with an intent to entertain. I want you all to understand what a crap I am and what a God we have, that loves me and works through me to make me AWESOME! Only He can do that. If you don’t get what I am talking about, email me, I would love to explain more. Emailing is safe, you can cut me off whenever you want….or ask me anything you want and never be embarrassed. If you don’t know God like I do, I know you want to. He has placed that desire in all of us. Ask questions, it can’t hurt to ask. If you do know exactly what I am talking about, please comment and give God a little lurve. Thanks for listening, I just needed to share.

Kisses!

Stress Relief

Posted by Luanne | Posted in WFMW | Posted on 12-11-2008

I’m sure none of you experience stress. Whatever! We are all bogged down with every day task and then those ugly monsters that creep up and we don’t see any way around them. Check out my last two posts and you will get where I’m coming from. Anyway, every Wednesday at 7:45am, my girlfriend has to drop her son off at school five minutes away from my house. She doesn’t have to be at work that day until 9:30am. She stops by my house and we sit and have coffee, talk, laugh, share, pray, cry, and catch up on our week while everyone else is sleeping. I can’t explain what that hour and a half means to me. If there is anything that chills me out, calms me down, but at the same time, picks me up and sets me down on the right foot again, it is a good friend. Wfmwbanner

Are you stressed? Get together in the wee hours with a friend. If you have to do it before hubby leaves for work, do it. A good friend and a cup of blueberry coffee works for me.

Kisses!

Ever Have a Day Like This?

Posted by Luanne | Posted in Manic Monday, My girls | Posted on 11-11-2008

Yesterday was totally insane. The good news is that everyone made it out alive… I’m not sure if they made it out well, but definitely alive.

At 9:15am I had to be in court. I would explain why, but every time I think too hard about it, I have to run to the restroom. For the life of me I could not find my court papers. Reason being, I’m sure I put them somewhere where they would not get thrown away or misplaced. In other words, I hid them. Needless to say, I hid them well. I decide not to panic and go with the information I had. When we got to the court sign in, we were not on the docket. To make this hideous story that is too long, a little shorter, follow me; We were in the wrong place….car too far away to get to in time…walked four blocks in two inch heals with dd and dh to another building…went to hearing…nothing I said was valid….left as quick as possible…walked six blocks to car.

That was only the beginning. We came home and homeschooled for about an hour. Drove to the Chiropractor’s office at 1:30pm, took off and went to my doctors apt at 2:30, then off to the dentist for Krisha to get her teeth sealed at 4:00. As soon as the sweet dental hygienist came out with Krisha, she said, “Oh, Krisha told me this is her only day off, and your off too. What are you guys going to do special tonight?” Krisha has dance rehearsal every day for at least four hours except Monday. I usually have my MK meetings on Monday night. Yesterday we were both off. That is why we scheduled every apt that had to be taken care of this week.

All the way to the car it was, “Mom, what are we going to do special tonight!?” My plans were to go home, ignore the other million things I had to do and recoup my sanity. I hated to disappoint her, but I think I did when I told her that were were just going to “be” as in quietly “exist” for about an hour and then I would answer that question.

When we got home, my husband, who is on third shift this week, was awake and ready for play time and dinner. Don’t you just wish life had a stop button? We ended up going to buy a $5 movie at Walmart, I made Chicken Lelani and salad for dinner and we watched the movie while we ate. Krisha was happy, Dh seemed happy, and I was ready for bed.

I know I should have posted this on Manic Monday, but can anyone guess why I didn’t get it done?

Kisses!
