Black Friday?

What does Black Friday mean to me? It means that my eyes see nothing but black until I open my eyes whenever the heck I feel like it. To tell you the truth, this is the first year I have ever even considered going out on BF. I saw a few toys that I wanted to get for my BFF’s dd and ds, and also a toy I wanted to get for my darling nephew. He turned one this month, and I love him, love him, love him. Point being, those three angels are the only reason I would even consider facing the mobs. Obviously, once I really thought about it, there is no reason to face those crazy mobs. Check this out. “Wal-Mart Worker Dies When Shoppers Break Down Doors” Seriously, I would rather pay full price.

I have never shopped on Black Friday and I’m not planning on it now. Six years ago I was very ill and could not move my body for months. I was put on intense treatment around Thanksgiving. Two weeks before Christmas, my family put me in a wheel chair and pushed me up to the computer so I could do a few clicks and actually pick out some gifts for my family. I have been doing it online ever since. Around this time of year, shipping at most places are free. That is a deal in itself. Plus, I know this sounds weird, but there are fewer choices online at a particular store. It helps me focus and not be so indecisive.

Shopping at Christmas time kinda creeps me out anyway. It becomes our focus, our obsession. Do we really even know what Christmas is all about anymore. When we give a gift to another person, are we thinking about how God gave us the Greatest Gift in Jesus Christ? Sometimes all this holiday blah, blah, blah, makes me sad. One year I was so irritated, we just packed up the kids on the 19th, flew to Miami, and went on a cruise until the 24th. It was AWESOME! Wow, that gave me back the happys.

What do you do to keep the real Christmas Spirit alive?

Kisses!
