So You Think You Can Dance

Posted by Luanne | Posted in Freaky Friday, My girls | Posted on 23-10-2008

My baby girl and meWednesday night Krisha (my 14yr old) and I went to the “So You Think You Can Dance 2008” tour in Columbus. We had an AWESOME time. Thanks to Jenny and Emily and momminitup, we not only had tickets in the eighth row, but we had VIP “meet-n-greet” passes. Several hours before the concert, we were able to meet with the dancers. Little did I know that it would be Krisha and I, five other adults and five young children. It was kinda awkward considering we have hardly seen the show at all. We just love dancing (Krisha is in our cities pre-professional ballet company), but our lives don’t afford much television watching. When we went to the meet-n-greet area, we were obviously supposed to be like the other crazy fans…we just didn’t know who any of them were.

After the show both Krisha and I decieded that if we had know how awesome they were, we would have been a little more star struck.

The best part about the whole night wasn’t really the concert or the dancing itself. It was that Krisha and I, from 1pm-midnight got to get away with each other, no phones, no email, no texting, no tweeting, no eerends to run, no bills to pay, no homeschooling, just she and I. We laughed, we danced, we screamed and giggled. We even took our picture together every time we went to the bathroom. Thanks momminitup for giving us time to stop and smell the roses.

 Yep....we\'re in the bathroom!

My dh and I are trying to lose some extra poundage by doing a “JENNY CRAIG” diet on a budget. We have cereal in the am, “Lean Pockets” and salad for lunch, a “Lean Cuisine” for dinner, two fruits, and 2 snacks. When it  comes to snacks, the problem always seems to be portion. Buying the 100 calorie packs are a big help, but they are also expensive.

During this Halloween season, there are many snacks that are being sold in packs that are convenient to hand out for Halloween. They cost any where from $3.98-$4.98 and they have anywhere from 18-30, 100 calorie packs to a bag. This is a lot better than the boxes of six that cost around the same. These bags are not marked 100 calorie, but most of them are (except the Goldfish and they are only 50 calories/pack.) Keep in mind, these are seasonal so stock up! Pre-proportions works for me and cheap always works for me!

I’m back!!!

Posted by Luanne | Posted in Manic Monday | Posted on 20-10-2008

Hello all. I am so sorry that I have been gone so long. Thank you so much to all of you who checked in on me. This summer was really rough. I was gone to Kentucky on a missions trip for a week, came back for four days and flew to Dallas for a MK conference. I was back for a week and school started. The first week was very overwhelming. The next week, we packed up and went to Virginia with Jenny from Momminitup, and her family. Needless to say, all of that plus a few unmentioned stressors (these are all seperate post in themselves) wore me into the ground physically. I was really in a hole that I didn’t think I would ever get out of. Thank God for….well…God. He never, ever, ever, gives us more than we can handle (even when it feel like it in the midst of it all.)

I am back, and I am looking forward to hanging out with all of you again. Thank you for being patient with me.

Kisses!

There and Back Again..

Hello! this is Luanne’s husband,Daniel, aka dsto. Luanne asked me to drop a line to you all.

We returned from our mission trip this weekend tired and glad to be home. We were also humbled by what we saw and encountered while in the Appalachians of Kentucky. We sometimes forget that there are people right here in our own country (and we really do not have to leave our own city to see that!) And the thing is…many, many times food and clothing are the last thing some folks need.

Luanne,Krisha, and I worked with a group called Youth on Mission as a family. 5 or so other families were there from our church as well. Part of our group did a bit of re-hab on a local home near Pikeville,KY. Some of us went and served at a Senior Center in Wheelwright ,KY, an old coal mining town.(we delivered meals, and painted and visited with some folks) We all worked at a distribution center called Thankful Heart. We also did a small “Vacation Bilble School” type deal with some kids at a local apartment complex.

Overall we stayed busy and tired. It was all worth it. Even though I brought some sinus bug home, it was a blessing. Crazy how we do that isn’t it? We go to serve and we get blessed? That’s good. But did we actually serve and do some good? I pray that we did. It is hard not to come home from a mission trip and talk about “us”.  It is a struggle in all things not to put  “us” first. At home,on a mission trip,at work….whatever. Let’s all work on missions everyday, wherever we are and let’s not even put “us” in the mix.

Luanne is now on her way to Dallas,TX for the annual MK seminar. She will be back next week with her regular schedule and her amazing tips and tricks and deals! Pray for her safe trip and a refreshing time with freinds and co-workers. My wife is amazing as many of you know first hand. She deserves the best. Whether in her buisness or personally. She amazes me…

Thanks for you time!

Independence Day

Happy 4th of July! I hope all of you have an awesome time with family this weekend. We just got home from the fireworks downtown. They were amazing! If we would have had fireworks like that when I was a kid, I would have flipped out. Every year they have to outdo the year before. It was interesting to me that there were still kids that looked bored. What have we done to our children? Fun isn’t even fun anymore unless it has bells and whistles. Did that just show my age?

Anyway, enjoy your family this weekend. Krisha is going to represent Dayton Ballet on a huge Nutcracker float tomorrow morning. I’ll take pictures. Tomorrow I will show you the goodies that Jenny from www.momminitup.com got me at FreeVS (That’s what Jenny calls CVS) Ain’t she cute?

Next week our family will be on a mission’s trip. Pray for us and the families that we will be ministering to. I’ll be back Monday, July 14th.

Since this is a holiday, you can get any MK product you want for 25% off! Stock up!

Kisses!
