One of the big color trends of 2008 is red! Red dresses, red jackets, red handbags, red shoes, red jewelry, and red lips. If you haven’t seen it out there, take a look around:

It doesn’t stop there:

Here’s what I want you to pay attention to…..never have it red from head to toe. If you have a red accent such as a handbag or shoes….don’t also have a red dress and a red jacket and red lipstick. Don’t get me wrong, red lipstick is very in….but not when it matches your dress. As a general rule, if you have glamor lips, tone down your eyes. If you have dramatic eyes, tone down your lips. Let each make an appropriate statement when set up to pop. This rule also works true with this new “red” trend.

Beautiful lips and nails…..

…notice….no bright red lipstick. In most cases, the accessories are nude or black.
Red is the trendy color of the season, but if your going to wear it, wear it! Make it pop!
Mary Kay will donate 100% of its profits from the sale of each Apple Berry lipstick to help change the lives of women and children around the world!

This weekend was unbelievably busy and it had absolutely nothing to do with Mother’s Day. My youngest daughter dances for Dayton Ballet Jr. Company and every year on Mother’s Day, the have their end of the year show. This show is extremely important because it happens to also be their only public show all year. They only other time they get to perform is when they get small parts in the professional ballets during the regular season or when they are doing demonstrations at the schools in the area. Anyway, they have to be at the theater at 10am to do an hour and 1/2 warm up class downtown before they have to be picked up and taken to where they are performing. They have to cram down their lunch and do their hair and makeup in the car on the way. Not to mention the family running to church, slipping out early and then after the performance taking my mother out for dinner, then off to the company party. A few days last week she had two school demonstrations in the same day at two different schools before noon….then we had an end of the year co-op party. Of coarse you also know that the word party means that I had to take a salad and desert. Life is busy.
As a Mary Kay babe, I am like a walking billboard. I don’t say that because I think I am so awesome looking, I just say that because it is my business and I can’t afford to be caught with my hair up in a wad, with sweats on and no makeup. No matter how busy I am, I have to pull it off some how. When I am in a hurry getting everyone else together and I am not left with a lot of time for myself, I just simplify. Pony tails are back in; either obviously messy or very neat & sleek. No time for sleek so pull it back soft and messy.

I personally can’t find my leather pants…..whatever! So I am sure to have a pair of cute trouser jeans and cute heals or flats to toss on when we’re in a hurry. Luckily t-shirts, tanks and jackets are in. Make sure they are layered and long enough and you will always have a quick easy cute outfit to put on when you have to take off out of the house.

As far as make-up goes……check this out….quick, easy, and fabulous.
Even if it is a Manic Monday, look awesome, love life, and be a good steward of what you have been blessed with!

I know some of you have participated in the Virtual Skin Care Class at www.iwantmk.com, but some of you registered and then after I confirmed your registration, you did not go in and give me your address and skin type on your profile. I can’t send you anything if I don’t know where to send it. Don’t worry, you don’t have to leave your phone#. I just need a physical address and I would like to know if you have Normal/Dry skin or Combination/Oily skin.
I think the process was just not working. I deceided to put an easier registration process in place. Hopefully this will work out better. All you have to do is click “register“, fill in the information, click “Done” and I will send you your materials for the class. I would really like there to be at least 40 people that have completed this class before we move on to the basic color class. I am so excited!
Have a great weekend.
See you Monday!

Today is “Tell Tale Thursday” and if I know anybody who can tell a Tale it is my dear husband. He may refer you to his blog and/or site, so proceed with caution. Next Thursday I will invite one of you to tell us all about you and your family. Yes, you can link to your site and/or blog. I am assuming the content will be family friendly and if it isn’t, when I review the blog before it is posted, I will have to, for the sake of my bloggy friends, not post it and move on. (run-on much?) On Monday, I will invite the person who has the most blog points. You get one point for each comment and two points if you offer my link from your site. Good luck, and thank you for sticking with me my first week.

Isn’t this a cool idea? I am sooo proud to be the first of the Tell Tale Thursday guests! I am really looking forward to reading other peoples guest blogs.
My family is probably quite like alot of others that are going to be reading this post. And yet, I happen to believe that it is the best family that has ever ever existed. And I should know..I am the Dad, the topo de casa dsto. We love each other without doubt, even when the boat seems to be sinking; A foundation in Christ reminds us that when we fail ( and I should know, I am topo de casa failo) God’s got our back.
My wonderful wife started her site and blog out of a grand desire to not only help her family, but help others be healthy,to look their best, and to feel great about themsleves. And to do it in a way that will never be threatening or with any kind of pressure. Yes, she’s a Mary Kay Lady, but I guarantee like none you have ever encountered. She serves her family in this Godly manner, so how could she be any different? She really has an interesting story in regards to being a consultant. You should ask her about it sometime.
Nooowww…about MY site. www.brothersstudios.com . Not only do we host this wonderful site and blog. I have my own site of ridiculosly stupid videos that I have made with my brother Stephen, and the help of our freinds and family. In essence my brother and I are trying to make each other laugh and we are letting everyone else join in on the joke. I understand that the sophmoric ( or is that moronic) humor we display is not everyone’s cup ‘o Earl Gray, but bop on over and watch one or 4 and leave me a note at the blog to tell us you dropped by.
Come back and visit my wife often. She loves people, and loves helping them.

Today we are participating in WFMW with our good friends at www.rocksinmydryer.net . We are to blog about something that doesn’t work for us!
I know some of you are here as a result of my BFF Jenny from momminitup, pimping me out. If you have never been to her blog, it is a must read. She is a master at……all yall out there who know her know exactly what I am talking about…..COUPONING! She amazes me. She has enough free stuff at her house to start her own store. Well, I hate to burst some bubbles especially sweet Bethany who was kind enough to have a cuponing class for all of us, but I CAN’T COUPON!!! I am not kidding. It freaks me out. Pleeeeeaasse tell me there is some other freak out there. I hate standing alone. I have tried, God knows (Jenny too!) I’ve tried. If fries my brain or something. I spend hours clipping and sorting, and making a list and checking it twice. By the time I’m finished I don’t have enough time, much less energy, to get my butt to the store. When Jenny came over for Bible study and saw that my Sunday paper was still on the porch, she was concerned. I had to then confess to her that I had a whole pile of papers tucked in the bookshelves of my office. She was very disappointed. Being the BFF that she is, she quickly came up with a brilliant solution:
I use a site that will tell me exactly where the coupon is and what the best store is to use it at. It is called The Grocery Game. Jenny told me to file the ads whole (like in a fan file) until I print and highlight the items from The Grocery Game that I want to buy. Then I can get my dd Krisha to cut out the coupons on the list before I go to each store. Brilliant! She never ceases to amaze me. I know it will work. If I would just do it….the paper pile is starting to take over my office. Argh! Couponing just doesn’t work for me.
